NetOculus network monitoring system actually provides all the
functions of well-known monitoring system MRTG. Besides it has a
number of it's own benefits:
- monitoring automation of any kind of alterations in
computer network of enterprise (and also in relatively
separated network areas ) which could be readable;
- efficient staff notification about hardware state
changes;
- aggregation of analytical information;
- attaching hardware to responsible staff;
- reports of staff about solutions of solved problems for
further use.
Software structure:
- Database, including:
- hosts and services information ( e.g. ping , interface
traffic etc.)
- pollers information
- event log
- Web-based interface, including:
-
- hosts and services data editing tools
- pollers data editing tools
- host hierarchy representation
- statistical service graphs representation
- event log representation
- Host tactical overview
- Polling system:
-
- Centralized server which receives data from remote
pollers and puts it into database
- Remote collectors which are able to work in relatively
separated network areas , which allows to poll foreign
areas if installed on bordered routers
- Simple way of extending pollers functionality by
developing new plugins ( to add a new plugin to poller it's
quite enough to copy shared library (.so) into specified
directory and describe it in poller's configuration file
)
- Platforms and programming languages:
-
- DB Firebird - storage of analytical and static data,
reports generation API
- PL PHP - web-interface
- PL Java - host tactical overview monitor
- PL C++ - polling server and separated pollers
- Core and separated pollers should be installed on Linux
or FreeBSD OS.
Besides we have developed plugin polling signal and noise
level in WiFi hardware.
